How Did We Get Here?

Many visionary women leaders have found themselves in the land of "in between." Living a life that's not totally what they desire versus the life they truly crave from the depths of their souls. They give so much of themselves that they oftentimes end up depleted and defeated. I've seen it happen many times, and it happened to me. I landed in a place that caused me to ask myself, "How in the hell did I get here?" It simply was not the place I thought I would end up.

I didn't have the strength to do anything for anyone, including my family. I was drained, exhausted, and even a little sad. Where was this coming from? My life was decent. Things were going pretty well regarding what the "world" deemed successful. But for someone who had spent years living other people's agenda of what her life was supposed to look like...it had caught up with me.

I was making decisions and choices based on what was expected of me instead of what I really wanted. I was using a lot of my daily energy serving, giving, and taking care of the needs of others. And while there's nothing wrong with being of "service"...I had become a "slave" to others and my life.
